African Drum Circle – October 17th – RSVP

Housatonic Friends Meeting invites you to participate in an African Drum Circle on Sunday, October 17th from 1-3pm at Housatonic Friends Meetinghouse.

We welcome children and beginners. Drums will be provided for use.

Suggested Donation
$10 per person
Refreshments will be served.

All proceeds from this program will benefit the orphaned and needy children supported by OBey YouthCare in Ghana, West Africa.

HMM Potluck – October 9th

Our next HMM potluck dinner and discussion will be Saturday, October 9. It will be in the spirit of big themes, this time the topic is death. We will have some queries to guide the discussion, but are open to all ideas and concerns.

The timing is the same as for our last potluck. Plan to arrive at 6 pm so we can begin eating by 6:15. We will start our discussion at 7:00 and end by 9:00. The location is at the Zarin’s home. For directions contact Richard or Lauri.

Please let Richard or Lauri know if you have not confirmed and are planning to attend, or if you have a change of plans.

Quaker Heritage Day – September 18th

On September 18, 2010, Richland Friends Meeting in Quakertown, Pennsylvania is celebrating its 300th Year. Please join us as we commemorate this historical moment in time by honoring the early settlers to this area once known as the “rich lands”.

Colonial Fun For The Whole Family and features a William Penn re-enactor plus other historical characters. A brochure of the event is available here (PDF).

Consuming Kids – A Free Film Dec 11th

Housatonic Friends Meeting is pleased to present “Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood“. The film is a brand new and critically-acclaimed film from the Media Education Foundation. It is an eye-opening account of the widespread effects of corporate advertising on the health and well-being of children.
