Immigrant Rights Intern – Long Island – Re-opened

The Immigrants Rights Project in New York seeks a Summer Intern to Research Immigrant Detention on Long Island.

Specifically, the intern will research the following:
* Are there any organizations/groups that are working with detainees and/or their family members? If so, which groups? What services are they providing?
* Where are detainees from LI held initially? In what detention centers are they subsequently held?
* What are the circumstances surrounding their detention? More specifically, how, where, and why were they picked up? Who arrested them (e.g., local police, ICE, bounty hunters, etc.)? Are there any patterns (e.g., particular areas, ethnicities/races, etc.?)
* What are the main needs of family members of detainees?
